Anyone for...Poems about Tea?

17th February 2011

Just out from small, independent publisher Candlestick Press, Ten Poems about Tea was the idea of poet Lorraine Mariner, a librarian in London's Poetry Library and a fan of all things tea-related.

She had been quietly collecting poems about tea and approached Candlestick Press with a choice of poems, some of them highly entertaining. The pamphlet includes works by Sir John Betjeman, Thomas Hardy, Carol Ann Duffy and Kenny Knight, who recalls the days when:

"...two sugars
was the national average

and the teapot was the centre
of the known universe..."

Aimed at all tea-lovers - be that Earl Gray or builders' brew, cup or mug - Ten Poems about Tea has an introduction generously contributed by Sophie Dahl (PG with milk, no sugar) and is available from www.candlestickpress.co.uk for £4.95.

Best enjoyed, according to the publishers, when read with your feet up and a tea-tray to hand.

Please note: Ten Poems about Tea won't be published until February 2011 - please check the publishers' website for more information then.
